Back then....we didn't do "smash cakes" like they do now. So...she just had a cake with a 1 candle on it. And after trying to blow the candle out without grabbing it with her fingers.....we gave her a slice and let her dig in. She loved it and made a beautiful mess.
This little angel became a car baby. Keith was now 4 and into preschool and started into sports. So....that meant she had to take car naps sometimes when we had to go to practices and/or games. But....she seemed to do just fine and learned to nap anywhere.
I really enjoyed having my kids together at different activities.
I always loved this dress on her....all decked out in her white stockings and black patent leather shoes. She was walking pretty good too. Her jet black birth hair had now lightened to a brownish tint. Her little bow barrette only stayed in her hair as long as she didn't remember it. Once she did....boy she pulled it out...along with strands of hair. I was always worried she would pull herself bald in one spot. I really didn't have to worry. Today, Erica has beautiful thick hair and no bald spots. She did NOT take after me and my hair....thin and fine. Thanks Goodness!
She is sitting in my favorite chair that we bought when Keith was born. It was a nice recliner and I took many naps with both of my babies in that chair.
Keith really started to enjoy playing with her. At first....she was just a baby to him. But once she became mobile, he took interest in her. He helped her build with blocks and play with her stuffed animals. He would try to share his food with her but she always insisted on wanting to hold the spoon and it usually ended up with a mess.
Of course....in the summer....I had her in the pool as soon as possible. She was in the water as a baby...but this summer I knew she could fit in an inner tube floatie and learn to kick her feet and be a little more fluid in the water. So thankful Keith could swim because that allowed me to keep an eye on him and work with her too.
Wonderful memories.
