Erica is 3

This is Day 4 of  30 DAYS OF ERICA

Erica turned 3 in Jan of 1989.  Right before that she became clingy to me.  Not really sure what brought all of that on, but she started crying when I left her at all of her familiar places...like church nursery, or friends, or relatives.  That is also when she started biting her nails.  Guess she was nervous about becoming a 3 year old.

For this birthday...we had her first "friend" party.   It was at our house and she invited her church friends and 1 of her Happy Times friends, and some neighborhood friends.    Oh yeah....I forgot to mention that she started going to Happy Times in Parkway Village ( my parents' original daycare) during the summer of 88 while I taught swimming lessons.  She really loved it and enjoyed playing with the children there.  She also went on Fridays in the Fall of 88 so that I could swim and run errands.  But I digress.....her 1 HT friend that she invited was able to come to the party.

This was a big weekend for her.....We had a family party and a friend party.  She was exhausted by Sunday because of her "party weekend".
This was her party dress.   She loved Minnie Mouse and really liked this dress.   Look at her cute pig tails!.  My girl was growing up and I was trying to savor every minute of it.

This was at our first home as a family.   Notice the Harvest Gold fridge on the left.  haha

During her 3rd year, she started dancing and even danced in the Recital in June of 89.

We went to DisneyWorld in March of this year and had a great time.  It was Keith's 2nd trip but Erica's first one.  So the good big brother acted like her tour guide and would tell her about things and rides and the Mickey Mouse breakfast we were going to have.  Back then, they called them Character meals.  I just remember how fun it was to watch her experience Disney with her big (6 1/2) brother.

She started Pre K 4 in the fall even though she was only 3 1/2.  It was at our church preschool and they told me she was ready.  In fact....she begged to go to school like Keith did.  It was only 3 days a week so we put her there.  Because of her birth date, she was going to do PreK 5 at the church and K5 at ECS.  This was a good way for her to gently get her used to a school schedule.

Of course, by the First grade, she was finished with school.  She was "over it" and ready to stay home with me.
