30 Days of Erica
Erica is really changing and growing and developing into her own little DURACELL. That is what we nick named her because she was always on the go. She was an early riser and could easily stay up late. She learned to ride her big girl bike without the training wheels by Oct of 1990. In the year leading up to her 5th birthday she had learned to roller skate and ice skate. She could also be pulled behind the boat on a towable. She was a fish in the water and learned to swim with no floaties.
She became a fashionista and had her definite ideas of clothing. I also remember she changed clothes alot and did some mix and matching of her outfits.
Her 5 year old birthday for her friends was at Showbiz Pizza Place. I don't think it is still around but for awhile it was giving Chuck E Cheese a run for its money. But...Chuck E Cheese won out!
Her favorite gift this year was her NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK stage. My mom and dad gave her that. She wanted it really bad but we were not able to spend that much on a gift like that. So grateful that my parents splurged because she played with it quite a bit. She only had a few of the NKOTB dolls but she didn't care. She would play their music and pretend the dolls were dancing on the stage.
She also started playing sports. That was interesting. Erica wanted to do anything with a group....but didn't really like the practicing before the games. When she started in T ball....she was placed safely in the outfield. When she saw no action....she could be found making clover necklaces in the field.
And then she tried soccer. I think she liked the breaks and snacks the best. She liked the picture day and the trophies but really wasn't into the game that much.
On her basket ball team....she enjoyed running from one side of the court to the other. But her favorite way to run to the other end was doing cartwheels! She and her friend Amy would have a cartwheel contest on the way to the other end of the court.
My little girl grew to become a talented athlete. I would have never thought she would stick with it but she did. She excelled at softball and basketball and even gave soccer a more dedicated try. To this day....she can still sink a basket and hit and outfield ball.
