Well, I am at that wonderful age where no matter what you do, your body starts to betray you. I had my bone density scan in Dec and the results were not as good as I was expecting. I have had to start taking Fosamax once a week and 1200mg of Calcium and 2000 mg Vit D3 daily. Ouch! That hurt my feelings. I thought I was healthy with all of my calculated eating and workouts.
NEW PLAN: I have given up Diet Coke! It was a love of my life and was the only vice I could enjoy guilt free with no calories.
Or so I thought. Because I drank DC instead of calories in other beverages, I have depleted my body of needed vitamins and minerals and therefore fueling Osteopenia. But...it is not too late! I have been off of DC for 3 weeks. Have not bought a fountain drink in 3 weeks! THIS IS HUGE for me. I have been drinking diet soda of some form since my teen years: Diet Rite Cola/ Tab/ Diet Coke. This is a part of me that is now gone!
It was my reward for workouts and anything else I could do to earn a fountain DC. Good bye my ole friend.
Now: I am trying to drink everyday: OJ/Chocolate milk and tons more water and water drinks. Yes...I have had to adjust my caloric intake for the extra calories but I am hoping it will all be worth it.
I have been trying new items that are calcium fortified and Vit D fortified. Not sure how those will pan out. I already tried Fiber One choices but they are like eating Styrofoam. Strike them from my grocery list.
Hummus is really good. I am enjoying that.
Greek Yogurt is not my fav. I think I will stick with my Dannon lite n fit.
Tried Almond Milk today, since I am not a milk lover. Added a touch of chocolate syrup and it was palatable.
So....food and drink has become a top priority with me. I used to just count the calories and maintained correct portions, gave up fried foods, cut the sugar, tried to get the veggie/fruit servings each day. Now, I am looking to add food that promote healthy bones and include calcium and vitamin D.
Feel free to make suggestions. I am kinda a picky eater but I am trying to branch out and try new things.

New rings
I finally took care of my wedding rings. I guess my knuckles are widening as I age. I have had to use lotion to get my rings on and off. In the last 6 months.....it has been so painful...to the point that I tore the skin on my knuckle sliding it off.
That was the last straw. I went to the jewelers and they were able to up size them/clean them/ and band them together as one unit.
I was so happy with the fit and the look. Larry thought that I had bought new rings. I went from a size 6-7. However, once passed the knuckle, the rings are quite lose, but they will not fall off.
Feels so much better and now I can wear my rings pain-free.

Food Critic
Today I thought I should check out the Fiber One Brownies that the TV commercial make look so yummy. I bought the chocolate ones and the peanut butter and chocolate brownies. I was so excited that after loading my groceries into my Jeep, I had to open the box and try one on the ride home.
Popped that first bite in my mouth and .........uugghh! Dry as sand! I chewed it up and swallowed and tried another bite. Same thing. I washed it down with my water...not Diet Coke.....been off of them for 11 days....but that's another story. It was definitely chocolatey....but dry dry dry. Guess it was all of the saw dust used for the extra fiber. Oh my goodness. It sounded like a great food for 90 calories and should hit the spot for my chocolate craves......NOT!!!!
Haven't tried the 2nd flavor yet. Not that excited about it anymore. If I have to heat them up or doctor them up to eat them.....sorta defeats the purpose. And that commercial is a crock!
I think I will plan ahead and splurge for extra calories for a real brownie that is moist and delicious and not like chewing styrofoam! Just saying

Blast from the Past
Anyone remember the old label makers?
If you say yes.....you are showing your age. Or you are a child of someone who's mom used one.
I had one when I was a child and I labeled everything. I loved it. BUT....you really had to make sure each letter was correct. There was no room for error! Not like computers where you can backspace and delete. Once the letter was embossed....it was permanent.
Found this when I was cleaning out a closet. I even have multi-colored extra tapes.
I just may have to label something.

Happy Birthday Erica
Today is my baby girl's 26th birthday. My how time flies. In her honor, I am blogging today. I went and strolled down memory lane and looked at her birth pictures. Boy...I was a little girl then. She was a bundle of JOY> She smiled early and fit right into our family. Keith really loved her too. He was a good big brother and would help take care of her. He especially liked giving her the bottle. I had several pictures of them sitting together watching cartoons. He was a good protector of her.
She was the perfect addition to our family. I loved being a mother and really enjoyed having a girl and a boy.
Watching my Erica grow and mature has been a huge blessing. Now she is a mother and has 3 year old Savannah. It is a great honor to be a part of her life and to watch her in her roles as wife and mother. But she will always be my baby girl.
So glad that we are close and live close. She is my sounding board and always an encourager for me. I never dreamed that my daughter would be my best friend.
I love you so much Erica......happy happy birthday.
Here's to many more. Enjoy your day.
Love,
Mom

Pix from the Past
Hey . This blog will be some pictures from the Christmases I wrote about. I was kinda ticked when I tried to scan a pix and it didn't come out too good. So...I lost the interest in posting pictures. But...this morning I realized I could use my iphone to make a picture of the picture and then post.
VOILA! EUREKA! That's it.!
So....that is what I did. The older pix are fading but you will get the idea.
Enjoy!
This is a better shot of me and my Dad with my bat and footbal. The tomboy!
Remember the matching PJ's blog? This is what I mean. L to R: Dad/Baby Tami/Mom/Tina/Debbie. That was in 1968. Sorry the picture is out of focus.....but it is degrading.
This is in 1969 and Tami was older.
Here we are in 1973 and Dana was added to the mix.
Here is a pix from 1973. The coveted drumset that I didn't get for the Christmas I expected. However, as Marta commented, I did get a set for my bd eventually. This is me rocking out to a record on my record player in my bedroom. Great place for a trapset huh?
Now in college: 1975, I was in a recording studio helping a friend from the BSU make his album. Dig the cool hair style and tank top. Must have been in the summer.
This represents the post about decorating our tree. This was in 1978. I had lost weight...so I wasn't my usual chubby size. This tree wouldn't have won any major awards but it was creative and it was 'US".
Well.....that wraps up my blogs from Christmases. I couldn't find a picture of Frosty....I really wanted to show you the snowman. But...you can imagine about him.
