Chasing Mail

On Thurs, Feb 23, 2012, it was a beautiful day outside.   For Feb, it was very warm and windy.   Did I say windy?
I went to my mailbox to get my mail and the minute I pulled it out, the wind kicked up and blew 2 of my pieces down the street.  I knew that one was a water bill so I started running after it.  I had 2 other packages and more mail in my arms as I was frantically chasing this bill.  My car was half in and out of the driveway and the engine was running with the driver door open.
3 times I got close to the bill and 3 times it blew further away.   After running almost to the cove, finally it landed near me and I stepped on the bill, thereby trapping it in the mud puddle.
Here is the bill with my shoe print on it.   Perfect sample for a CSI!!!!
After I retrieved that soggy, muddy bill, I backtracked to search for my other piece of blown mail.  Luckily, it had only traveled a few feet and landed in the curb in a puddle of water.   Success!  I picked up that dripping bill and carried ALL  of my mail into the house.
Whew!   So glad that I do run for exercise and that I am in shape.  Also glad that I was wearing running shoes....I certainly didn't want to aggravate my heels and start that heel pain all over again.
So....mail was rescued and dried out.   All turned out fine.  Too bad someone didn't film me and post it on YouTube.   Could have been a viral sensation!
Did I say windy?

Die Coke update

Hey friends....I am happy to report that my quest to wean off of Diet Coke has worked.   I am now in my 2nd month of not drinking fountain DC's.   Hope Burger King/McDonalds/Subway will be able to get along without my patronage.
I have been guzzling water, drinking tea and chocolate 1% milk.   Every now and then I sip on some Diet MT. Dew or Diet Sierra Mist.   Since those are not my fav....I don't drink much of them.
I have not had the headache withdrawal symptoms that I anticipated.
So....the other day I bought a drink from BK just to see....and I could NOT  drink it.   The taste was not appealing to me!   Didn't see that coming.  I left it in the fridge for Larry.
We ate at Memphis Pizza Cafe last Sat and I ordered water and a diet coke....just to see.   Drank the water instead.....the DC was no BIGGIE!!!!!

I am puzzled by decline of the taste craving.   DC no longer has its pull on me.   I am not enslaved anymore by that drink.  Interesting......I wasn't expecting that outcome.

So....hope my bones are loving this new me!  I don't know that I will be off DC forever.....but for now...I am free of the taste and craving.

A funny YMCA story

When you belong to the Y, you get alot more than just a membership.  You get a place to workout and also you meet new people and develop relationships.
Last year, as I was leaving the Y, and car came driving up in the parking lot making a horrible noise.  It was a huge SUV.  Turns out it was a toy big wheel that was dragging on the bumper of the SUV.  When the lady got out, I told her that her car was making a noise and that she should check it out.  That was before I knew what she was dragging.  Anyway....she came around the car with her big wheel and said she felt so dumb.
I immediately recognized her as a local TV personality which totally embarrassed her.  I told her I understood that those things happen when you have small children.

Fast forward to yesterday...Sunday.   After I had been at church, several people came in and told me that I had a beach towel stuck under the front end of my jeep.  It was the towel I had down to catch the oil after an oil change.  So...I asked Larry to get it for me, but it made me think of my BIG WHEEL friend at the Y.

TODAY:  Monday.....I was leaving the cardio room and guess who I saw?   She was on a machine....so I had to stop and tell her what had happened to me.  Now...I haven't seen her since the BIG WHEEL incident...so I think God orchestrated the timing of all of this.
While I was telling her.....she was again embarrassed but I stopped her and told her that now she has a new ending to her story.
